Painted wolves at speed.

To see these very rare canids was for me the highlight of our trip to Botswana. Taken on the Kwando concession this was indeed special. Our guide had to track these, they move frequently due to predation by Lion whom see them as competitors. They are also persecuted by pastorilist for they take domestic livestock. This pack consisted of Alpha male and female with eight pups and a number of young adults. They are Africas most successful predators, a eighty per cent kill rate. A most humbling moment to see them off on a hunt.Art Wolfe had been to this location only a week previous to our visit.
