Blencathra in winter.

We climbed this most northern of the Lake District hills from Threlkeld. It started easy onto the main ridge. On reaching the spine of rock called Halls Fell the going became somewhat more serious. With soft snow and the the odd blizzard coupled with whiteout this proved to be an exciting climb. It was a case of holding on and scambling this rocky spine. In some places it meant riding the rocks with a sheer drop either side! On reaching the summit the scene was stupendous with all the elements thrown in!
A day to remember, a worthy climb.
